Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Performs selected Nursing and Administrative duties. Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Documents patient histories and takes vital signs. Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments. Gives injections and applies casts, splints and dressings. Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments including sterilization. Assists physicians in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals. Assists with scheduling of tests and treatments. Screens telephone calls for referral to Nurse or Physician. Provides General information on departmental policies and procedures. Orders and maintains Clinical and Office supplies and equipment. Maintains patient files, records and other information. Compiles and condenses technical and statistical data for reports and records. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. Maintains patient confidentiality. Performs weekly Quality Controls as directed. Recognizes ethical, Legal and professional issues inherent in providing care to women experiencing a high-risk pregnancy. Communicates effectively and courteously with and demonstrates a caring attitude toward patients and family. Treats all patients and their families with dignity and respect. Acts in a non-directive, non-judgmental manner, recognizing an individual s religious, ethical and moral opinion/belief. Uses standards of patient satisfaction as a measure of effectiveness. Follows universal precautions and OSHA standards. Performs other assigned duties as directed. Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants. One (1) year experience in obstetrical Nursing, Medical Office experience preferred. Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Medical practice and care to assist in giving patient care. Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures. Knowledge of Medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care. Knowledge of common Safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Skilled in assisting a variety of treatments and medications as directed. Skilled in taking vital signs. Skilled in maintaining records and recording test results. Skilled in developing and maintaining department Quality Assurance. Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, Medical Staff and the public. Maintain Quality Control standards. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Knowledge of common Safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment. Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred. Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. CPR certification required. Ability to deal non-judgmentally with patients undergoing pregnancy termination. Complete corporate Office requirements on the completion of the Compliance Program.
